Alone and lost on the slopes of Alaska. Julie rebels against her home situation and runs away toward her pen pal in San Francisco. She soon finds herself lost in the Alaskan wilderness, without food, without even a compass. Slowly she is accepted by a pack of Artic wolves. They become her family. Her struggles in the wild, force her to rethink her past and redefine herself within her rich Eskimo culture and tradtions. This is a story with a message for those of all ages. A Newbury Award winner-the highest award given to a children's book.
