Arthur & George
4 journalers for this copy...
Given to me by a friend to bookcross
I liked this, but I didn't love it. Some sections of the novel just flew by (such as the touching tale of George's time in prison) and others (such as the anonymous letters period) dragged along a bit for me. Generally, I preferred the parts told from Arthur Conan Doyle's perspective. Learning more about his life, even in fictionalised form, was very interesting and I might try pick up a proper biography sometime.

Caught at the Old Gang meet up. Thank you!
So i began to read this and had an overwhelming sense of deja vu and sure enough I have read this before, and not long enough ago for me to have forgotten half of it! No problem though as I have a secret plan for it.
And off it goes in a surprise Christmas parcel. Happy reading!
Thank you so much for this brilliant Xmas RABCK package! Two books and 3 yummy bars of chocolate. Looking forward to reading this.
The subject matter was a fascinating surprise for me. I certainly felt for George, as someone with a similar genetic make up Who is living now I experience much of the same (minus the penal servitude). I used to love reading Sherlock Holmes books as a child, but knew nothing of the author so this book was a great starting point to broaden my knowledge. For subject matter I had no previous experience of, I felt the author did a great job or imagining what went on. It all felt very authentic. It was just a bit dry. I was enjoying reading it but didn’t feel compelled to zip through it.
I have a next reader lined up for this. Try to get it packed and posted ASAP.

Finally posting off to another BookCrosser (it’s a long overdue promise). Happy reading, I hope it was worth your wait. [The Stand to follow, I’m reading it next.]
Thank you very much Shahrun for this book! Will get it on my TBR rotation soon!
