"An attack in a wealthy neighbourhood. A woman refusing help. A handful of cash to keep it quiet...
Just as Paddy Meehan's career as a journalist begins to take off, she is faced with a bruised and beaten woman and a cash bribe from the man trying to cover it up. The next morning the woman is dead and Paddy has the cover story she's been after - as long as no one finds out about the pay-off.
The police have their own reasons for avoiding justice, so Paddy is driven to investigate. Dragged into a world of drugs, revenge and murder, could she be the next victim?"

I am a huge fan of Denise Mina. Her plots are good. Her characters are multi facetted. And the society in which she places her mystries is very well and interetingly described.
This novel comes highly recommended.

Am finally reading this now. I'm really enjoying it and would like to give others the chance to read it too, so I'm planning to finish it and bring it with me to release at the BookCrossing convention in Bordeaux next weekend. :-)
Almost finished this on the plane from Nantes to Bordeaux on Wednesday, and read the last seven pages in the hotel later that night. An engaging thriller, as they say. Would definitely be interested in reading more by this writer.
