A Map of the World

This is a story of reaching for forgiveness. Howard and Alice have achieved a life dream. They threw up the city life and moved to a small dairy farm of 400 acres surrounded by a growing suburb. With their 2 kids, Emma and Claire, they seem settled. And then tragedy strikes. Alice's best friend, Teresa, drops off her two daughters for the day and little Lizzy drowns in their small pond.
At first, you settle in, 'ah,' you think, 'I know where this is going.' And it is. Obviously this kind of tragedy rips a family and their circle apart. Alice falls into a deep depression, and Howard becomes more and more helpless to maintain the family. When Alice is finally forced out of her enervation it seems like the crisis may have a resolution, until the police car pulls into their driveway.
Subtle writing, from 2 viewpoints, make this a moving book. There are no easy answers here, but you would'nt expect that from Hamilton. Settle in for a good read.

Forgot my book at home. Thankfully, this was sitting on a table at Caribou. I'll let you know what I think if it when I'm done.
Found this at Caribou in Bloomington - I haven't caught a book in ages and I was so excited to see it! It looks like a good book and one I haven't read before...
