I enjoy Mieville's fiction, so I was intrigued to read this short political polemic.

He writes well, and with passion. I agree with most of his politics, and he has captured the mood in much of my city, especially the younger generation.
As to what will come of that mood, well, we shall see

A Bookcrossing buddy asked me if I could send this to a friend of hers - a Melville fan who recently moved to London. I can't help but worry that this will be a rather harsh view of the city for one so new - it takes a while to build up the kind of cynicism needed to see the underside so clearly! But I'm assured it will still be enjoyed :)

I think I read parts of this...essay (I guess?) when it was published online, but having it in book form makes it much easier to read.
And don't worry - I've been to London before, several times. There's the good, amazing things, and then the not so amazing things, as in every city. I'm pretty sure I'll still be able to enjoy my time here immensely - an additional critical perspective can't hurt. :)
