Took the book to the Calgary BC Meetup at the Joshua Tree Cafe today.
I picked this up at the Bookcrossing meeting today. I have read other Kenneth Oppel books and have enjoyed them and have ogled this book in Chapters many times partly because I enjoy Kenneth Oppel and partly because Frankenstein is one of my favorite classics - I am glad I get to read this!
Thanks, rureading :)
Thanks, rureading :)
Fantastic! Stellar writing, as usual, from Kenneth Oppel and a wonderful spin on Frankenstein, yet Kenneth Oppel very much makes this his own story. Full of humor, action, intrigue, secret passages hidden behind bookcases - what more could a person want?!
I am going to buy a copy for my PC and buy the sequel -Such Wicked Intent - as well.
Thanks so much for sharing this, rureading - you know my reading taste so well!

I am taking this fabulous book to the Bookcrossing meeting today to find a new reader.
Enjoy!

Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing July meet-up. Sounds like a cool twist on the Frankenstein story.
I was slightly wary of the "Victor Frankenstein in his teen years" premise, but it worked. It's not a re-telling of Frankenstein, but a sort of lead-up to the actual story. You can get a sense of what led Victor to be obsessed with bringing back the dead. I was left with the feeling that Oppel has plans for another book?
Passing this book on to the next interested BookCrosser.
Picked up at our August meet up. Adding to my really large TBR pile.
Are you in the Calgary area and interested in meeting up with other Calgary BookCrossers? Please check out our facebook group, "BookCrossing Calgary" for details on how. Meeting are held on the second Saturday of every month starting at 11am. Location is unknown, please PM me for information. New Crossers are always welcome.
I am overloaded with books and a new baby so returning this as other people are waiting for it. I would like it back at sometime though....

OK - I cam home with WAY too many books. But, my books are organized now by when I got them.
Interesting read. I do need to read the sequel as I was left with ?????? You are stopping NOW?
Taking to the November meetup at Cravings Restaurant.
Taking this back to the December meetup of Book Crossing at Cravings.
I do NOT remember putting my name on this book. (I actually accused BookyMcBooks of doing just that... Again.).. But stranger things have happened.
I better get reading over Christmas break before school kicks up again...

It seemed like an interesting read, but I didn't get too far into this book. I guess I just wasn't in the right mindset.
Will be brought/sent back to Calgary bookcrossing to be enjoyed by another reader.

Returning to Calgary BookCrossing group
Got these from a BookCrosser to return to circulation. I am sorting the books and either passing directly to a Calgary member who has requested it or returning it to the person who introduced it to the group. Hopefully this one will find a new reader soon!
Book returned to me.
