As much as I like Nick Hornby and as much as I pretend to like the beautiful game, I actually have no interest in football (except for a feigned fandom of Man City to annoy everyone here in Baltimore on Purple Fridays) and don't care enough about Nick Hornby's personal history to rate this book very highly. I traded it to GrammarBroad for Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I hope she enjoys it.
Arrived this weekend and I'm already halfway through it. Don't know anything about soccer, but it was recommended to me by my Arsenal-nut son, who thought Hornsby did a good job of explaining why males are such sports nuts. So far I agree. Thanks for the trade, and your book is finally in the mail after being chauffeured around town for a couple of weeks. (The post office was always closed for the day or it was a holiday or I wasn't dressed to go in...). Anyway, it is on its way. Enjoy!
Thoroughly enjoyed this interesting book. Engagingly written. Even though I know nothing about soccer - yeah, I know the rest of the world calls it football. Donating it to the New Orleans Gooners' book loan program. Enjoy!
