I did a little dance, and traded this lovely book for another that I'm dying to read!

May it be swift on it's feet to their door! :D

It's here! Thank you. This book looks exciting: "A Dutch documentary filmmaker finds himself in Berlin at the end of the twentieth century..." I was in Berlin at the end of the twentieth century! I wonder if I'm in it :D

Ah, I had a good old wallow in nostalgia while reading this book. It mostly takes place in Berlin in the 1990s, around the same time I was there, and the protagonist gets up to the same sort of things I did: lots of aimless wandering, gazing romantically out of buses and U-Bahn trains, drunken discussions about Art and History in pubs and crappy rooms in draughty flats, fancying myself as some sort of artist, getting told off for crossing the road against a red light, flying out of Tempelhof airport in a tiny plane, all that. I'm sure it wasn't the author's intention to make me feel nostalgic and he had bigger ideas to communicate, but I wasn't listening because I was too busy thinking "Rosenthaler Platz! I've been there!" However, Memory is a big theme of the book, so maybe he'll forgive me.

Also, Spandauer Damm is amusingly misspelt Spandauer Damn on page 314.

Thank you so much shnedwards, for this book from my wishlist. I hope I don't have to sacrifice it to appease the luggage police.
