Deeper: Adventures on the Net

John Seabrook is a regular contributor to The New Yorker.
This is an interesting personal account of Seabrook's immersion in both the Net and the Web. A lot of the book examines the life of various communities online and he also makes some interesting comparisons between the settlers of the great American frontier and the first users of the Internet.
"It seemed amazing to me that my on-line life had followed the same course as my real life, but in the moments following that instant of apprehension I was already thinking, Of course it has to be this way, and within a few more seconds the fact that I had been amazed was the only amazing thing."

This was my pick in the lucky dip at our December Meetup at Cafe Otto. It looks interesting to me, as someone who probably spends too long on the internet! More comments once I've read it.
Sorry fuji that it took a while to journal. :-(
