This is a historical fiction written for older school children. It takes place during the yellow fever epidemic of 1793 in Philidephia. The story follows 14 year old Mattie Cook who's family operates a coffehouse. Mattie's ambitions and dreams are tragically set aside as she deals with the nightmare that has befallen her city.

My daughter and I both read this book when she was in middle school. We both liked the story very much. I hope the next reader does too.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Hey! You Found Me!

Did you notice the little book sticker on the cover of your new found book? It means I am a very SPECIAL book. I'm a BookCrossing Book and I love to travel around making new friends as I go. My last friend left me here so that somebody like you would pick me up and read me. The great thing about BookCrossing Books is that we like our stories shared with others. When you are done reading my story, why not pass me along to a friend or leave me in a special place where somebody else can find me.

Be sure to leave a special message here in the journal, letting others know where you found me and how you liked the story. ....& don't worry about giving your name, you can remain anonymous. Later, others who find and read me can follow my journey!

Happy Reading!

Note: BookCrossing is fun and free to join and safe for kids. If you decide you want to join the fun of sharing and tracking your books while they travel, it would make me happy if you told the folks at Bookcrossing.com that imawinn2 was the one who shared this book with you. Then they will let that person know that they are successfully spreading the word about BookCrossing.

My mother found the book but she and her friends do not use computers, so they didn't understand what to do with it. First she read and enjoyed it then she shared it with 2 friends. They discussed the book and then she asked me if I would like to read it. I did and enjoyed it, a very quick read. I enjoy historical novels. I liked the variety of characters. We decided to carry it until we come to a place we would feel compelled to drop it off, not sure where that will be yet.
