This is a very enjoyable mystery by a Canadian author. Lots of twists and turns as Inspector Green unravels the mystery while his own marriage seems to be unraveling simultaneously. I will definitely read more by Barbara Fradkin!
Barbara Fradkin will be a Guest of Honor at Calgary's coolest festival for Readers and Writers - When Words Collide 2013
Book Description from Chapters.ca
Ottawa Homicide Inspector Michael Green is absolutely obsessed with his job, a condition which has almost ruined his marriage several times. When the biggest case of his career comes up, his position, his relationships and several lives are put into grave danger. A young graduate student and scion of a rich family is found expertly stabbed in the stacks of a university library, but no one seems to have the slightest idea why. But as Green probes into the circumstances of the young man''s life, a tangled web of jealousy and intrigue is revealed. Green finds himself in the middle of a rivalry in the delicate arena of university politics, where gigantic egos regularly collide. Was it the diligent but socially inept researcher, or the macho ladies-man golden boy of the laboratory? Or was it a crime of passion involving the over-protective family of his beautiful new girlfriend? When the murderer strikes again, Green realizes that he must waste no time in solving the case, no matter what the consequences may be

I took this to the Bookcrossing meeting today and passed it along to rureading. I think she will enjoy it :)
I picked up the latest book in the series (the 7th book) off the library discard shelf and enjoyed it. It will be interesting to start at the beginning of Inspector Green's story.
I enjoyed this mystery set in Ottawa with an interesting set of characters. Inspector Michael Green is an intuitive type of investigator, and because he is human, has his faults as well. The best part of the book is that it leads on to 6 more in the series so I can keep reading!
Took the book to the meetup at Cravings today.
Picked this up at the July book crossing meeting. Very interested in starting this series
Started out a bit slow for me. I kind of had to push through but glad I did as actually liked it. It was interesting reading the Canadian references. As far as mysteries go it kept me guessing to the end as to who dunnit. Can't say I liked Inspector Green very much but perhaps that is the point.
Picked up at yesterday's Calgary BookCrossing meeting. Sorry for the late entry.
Fun read that kept me guessing through the book. I agree with MoomaOma I didn't really like inspector Green that much either. Maybe he grows on you as the books proceed. Glad I started this series at the start.
Will be brought to the next Calgary BookCrossing meet up and handed off.

I picked this up at the January Bookcrossing meeting - adding it to the groaning shelves.
I do enjoy the Inspector Green books. What is really funny is I was reading this when I went into emergency to have my heart checked - the nurse looked up and saw what I was reading and said he didn't think that was appropriate for the hospital. (Check the title). I bought one of Barbara's books after I saw her at When Words Collide and really enjoyed that one also.
I am taking this to the July meeting at Cravings so it can journey on to a new reader.
Picked up at July's meeting. I actually came home with less books then I brought, crazy!

Safe in my hands...
I really enjoyed this book. Loved all the Canadian references...even a Harveys burger. I would sure want inspector Green on my side as he is very intuitive and keeps at it...but to the detriment of his marriage...don't like the way he treated his wife. But nice to read a book with characters that have grit...especially after all the fluffy Christmas reads I have been doing.
Also... I found this book similar to Giles Blunt books but without the darkness. And I don't think it was because of the Canadian references.
Worst part...another series I want to read!!
Thanks Minerva for bringing to the group.
Anyone have book 2?

Received from Crossingguardma. Good read and nice to see all the Canadian references.

Picked this up at the February BookCrossing meet up. We had 13 BookCrossers in attendance as well as lots of books.
Purging this one from my shelf to include in the BookCrossing book box. Hopefully it will find a new reader.
I received the Pandemic Book Box that is circulating amongst our local Bookcrossing group. Since this one has been floating around the group for the past 7 years, I am taking it out to wild release and hopefully it will find a new reader <3
