Sorry, it took me so long to read this book. I wasn`t because of a lack of understanding but because this book was so bad. I must write my JE in English because I´m not fluent enough in the Nederlandse taal for expressing my opinion.

First of all:
the writing was bad, really really bad. It was a repetitive way of using words, for example: wow, flush, murmur, wisper, blush, shit (in all variantions), cocking his/her head....and I don't want to read about "my inner goddess" EVER again. I`ve been reading a lot of fanfiction and "Vijftig tinten grijs" is one of the worst things I`ve ever been reading. Yes, I know this book was a piece of fanfiction about "Twilight" in the beginning and was called "Master of the Universe". I never thought something could make me see the "Twilight"-trilogy as a masterpiece of literature, but the "FSoG"-Trilogy accomplished this miracle. I don´t want to go into details here, but logic was never a part of this book. It´s not getting any better when E.L. James scatters some medicinal or geographical terms troughout the book or let the inner goddess do any kind of dance.

How can you have a conversation with your subconscious? So it`s not only Ana & Christian but her inner goddess and her subconscious, that makes four and a fine orgy......

About the story and the characters:
I don't know how anybody can like this story and swoon about Christian Grey. He is a manipulative, controlling stalker, but wait....he is such a greek god in looks and he has tons of money, so everything is just peachy!!!!! (sorry, but the sarcasm got the better of me here) If he was poor and average looking, people would not consider this book a romance, but a thriller. Oh, and Christian is a music lover. We all know that everyone who loves music can not be a maniac, don't we?

Ana is a Mary Sue and both of them are totally weird. She is a virgin, because she thinks she isn`t pretty and sexy. But three guys want her. And when Christian comes, she sleeps with him at their second date and he musn`t even pretend to love her. She transforms from super shy, klutzy girl to a sex goddess just because of Christian. He seems to be a wizard of sex with a magic wand. Sorry, no pun intended here.....
He had a bad childhood and was abused as teen, so everything he does is okay because of his past. Really? Again, if he wasn`t so gorgeous and filthy rich, would somebody really think this is romantic?

Ana must have been living in a cave for the last 21 years and some months. She doesn`t even have an E-Mail-adress and doesn`t know the internet? She is supposed to be intelligent but she is as intelligent as a fruit fly. How did she manage to stay a virgin during High School and why? She has absolutely no reason to do so. She isn`t a virgin because she believes in saving herself for someone special or in a religious way, she just thinks she isn`t attractive enough for some guy. But luckily Christian considers being a virgin such a shameful thing that he helps her to get rid of it immediately and in a painful way.

The relationship they both have is just abusive. Ana doesn`t do the BDSM part because she likes it, she is scared and she does it because she wants to please Christian. He isn't just her Dom in sexual ways, he's controlling her whole life and when she flees from him, he tracks her down like a hunter his prey. This really makes me want to throw up.

The sex part:
I've read my share of erotic books, inclunding a lot of "PMHR" ("Popp mich holder Recke" aka "Take me, my knight in shiny armor") and there is far better stuff to read, even for free. Sorry, but I find nothing arousing or erotic here and not even because I`m not into BDSM, but because this whole thing is just creepy. Is mindblowing sex really a reason to keep up with somebody like Christian Grey? Oh, wait I forgot his good looks and he's a Billionaire by the way. Forget about the normal relationships, forget about talking, having something in common - this is way overrated....

It scares me a lot that so many women and girls love this book/this series. It has a disturbing way of portraing women. When Ana's friend José assaults her, he apologizes with the words " I was drunk and Ana ,you where...." What? There? A woman? This is the same way people (guys) react after a rape with this shitty "She was wearing a short skirt, so she wanted this."-stuff which makes me gag.

Sorry, as you can see clearly now, this book is not my cup of tea and it will never be. I hope it will be forgotten soon. I would give this book zero stars, but sadly this is not possible here, so it get`s one star.
Thank you for letting me read it, though. I was curious about the hype.
