When Mrs. Cobb heard unearthly noises in the antique-filled farmhouse, she called Jim Qwilleran for help. But he was too late. It looked as if his kindly ex-housekeeper had been frightened to death - but by whom? Or what? Now Qwilleran's moved into the historic farmhouse with his two cat companions - and Koko the Siamese is spooked. Is it a figment of feline imagination - or the clue to a murder in Moose County? And does Qwilleran have a ghost of a chance of solving this haunting mystery?

I read this every night before going to bed, a few pages at a time, then I fell asleep. Therefore the plot was a bit confused even dull, but the excitement was intensified at the end of the book. This was the third book by Lilian Jackson Braun that I read.

I took all three Jackson Braun books from today's monthly meet-up :D I'll probably read at least one of them myself too (and of course then the others, if the first one is good, easy and quick enough for me to read), but my actual/secret plan is to take them to Porvoo.. ;) Thanks for the books!

I might've been too tired when I read this because I had a hard time concentrating... I found myself disliking even Qwill at some point :O The cats were cool, there could've been more about the cats. It got better in the end though.

This was a light and entertaining read and I quite enjoyed it. The murder mystery seemed to be a sideline for a long time, but the historical and genealogical plots were interesting for me. And, of course, in the end the crimes committed in the distant past tied in with those of today.
My first The Cat Who ... novel, and I am pleased that I have two more waiting to be read on my shelf.
