Richard Mayhew is a plain man with a good heart -- and an ordinary life that is changed forever on a day he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. From that moment forward he is propelled into a world he never dreamed existed -- a dark subculture flourish in abandoned subway stations and sewer tunnels below the city -- a world far stranger and more dangerous than the only one he has ever known...Richard Mayhew is a young businessman with a good heart and a dull job. When he stops one day to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk, his life is forever altered, for he finds himself propelled into an alternate reality that exists in a subterranean labyrinth of sewer canals and abandoned subway stations below the city. He has fallen through the cracks of reality and has landed somewhere different, somewhere that is Neverwhere.

At my hands today with some lovely stamps! Thank you :)
I have two books, so sending the one to rahar109 for the wishlist tag game!
Received in the post this morning, thank you.
I found the Americanisms in a story that is about London rather out of place. Apart from that minor quibble, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm going to London tomorrow and shall be travelling on the Underground - I shall never think of it in the same way again!
Thank you for sending me this, alexiapapa.

Many thanks for this Wishlist book rahar109 and even nicer to spend some time with you at the convention. I look forward to reading my first ever Neil Gaiman book.
Five years later and I finally brought this book to the top of Mt TBR. Such an easy and interesting read. As I had lived in London in the early 70’s, I really enjoyed a look at London and the imagined world underneath. The interpretation of some of the underground stations was well done and it did feel a bit like an Alice in Wonderland sort of fantasy tale.
