"Haunted is a novel made up of twenty-three horrifying, hilarious, and stomach-churning stories. They’re told by people who have answered an ad for a writer’s retreat and unwittingly joined a “Survivor”-like scenario where the host withholds heat, power, and food. As the storytellers grow more desperate, their tales become more extreme, and they ruthlessly plot to make themselves the hero of the reality show that will surely be made from their plight."

I found several of the stories to be entertaining or at least interesting, but though that the majority of the stories were over the top to the point of being distracting. I'm usually a huge Palahniuk fan - I loved Choke and Invisible Monsters, but this novel didn't do anything for me. Is it possible that Chuck's stories were too graphic? I usually love how he pushes the envelope, but at a certain point it becomes overwrought. I finished the book and decided that it was only suitable for a controlled release - I would be mortified if an "innocent" found it and fainted after reading "Guts."

Thank you so much for this wishlist book that had been on my list for a very long time.
Thank you also for the warning about the "Glow In The Dark" cover, I'm sure it would have creeped me out if I'd noticed it around 1 AM. lol.
Looking forward to reading this in the near future.

This may well be the most disgustingly barf-worthy book that I've ever read.
Not scary, not funny just ewww - all the way through it.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Thought that you might enjoy this one.
The glow in the dark cover is super cool, I left it under a lamp all afternoon and then scared the crap out of my daughter with it - I'm evil like that! :)

I read this years ago. I remember just loving the book. Some of the stories have stayed with me over the years, so it will be fun to kind of revisit them before I find a new home for this book. Thank you!
