RCMP Sergeant Booker Kennison is sent to Yellowknife by superior officers as a warning to keep quiet about missing pension funds. A week later, on suspension because of a bar fight, he is reluctantly sent to Victory Point on King William Island, Nunavut, to do a quick routine investigation of a fire at an archaeological camp. Kennison finds evidence of murder and the small camp atmosphere escalates about a missing journal from the doomed Franklin Expedition. With fuel supplies gone due to the fire, a satellite phone with limited capacity due to the lack of sun to recharge, and the threat of certain death if the open water freezes over preventing rescue by pontoon plane, Kennison's survival seems doubtful before the murder is solved.

The author goes back historically to the Franklin Expedition with pages of the journal detailing the hardship of the crew interspersed with the storyline. The journal is faithful to the many facts known of the failed expedition and is an interesting addition to the story.
This book's journey continues by its finder's cooperation and creativity. By making a journal entry on this book, you can add to the book's story as it travels from reader to reader around the world. Read it, share it, and pass it on! Thanks!
