I remember enjoying this book many years ago. This is a copy purchased used for release.

From the back cover: Cold Sassy, Georgia, had never been a whirlpool of excitement. If the preacher's wife's petticoat showed, the ladies could make the talk last a week. But on July 5, 1906, things took a scandalous turn. That was the day E. Rucker Blakeslee, proprietor of the general store and barely three weeks a widower, eloped with Miss Love Simpson - a woan half his age and, worse yet, a Yankee! On that day Will Tweedy's adventures began and an unimpeachably pious, deliciously irreverent town came to life.

Wonderful! I absolutely loved this book! Definately made my top 10! Heck, probably top 5 if I really thought about it! So early in the book.. and from the get go.. very descriptive! You see what you're reading.. right to the last page! Those type of books are priceless! When she first described Will in the garden I felt like I was sitting on the step looking out at it! This was never lost! Just brilliant! I loved Grandpa like he was my own.. heck maybe more! This book made me laugh and it also made me cry(at least at the end I cried). I felt bad for Will when his gal married another guy... Too bad Will didn't get the car and the store! He deserved at least the car! Anyhow.. I love this book! I didn't want it to end! But glad it did end where it did if it had to end that way. What a book!
I must say, my reading it has taken a toll on the book and I was as nice as could be! I was reading it with the "be very very careful"(in my Elmer Fudd "Shh... I'm huntin wabbit's" voice).. but try as I might, this book fell apart in my hand's... sections fell out... 4 to be exact, and who know's how many more if I open it again.... trying to figure a way to fix it... Anyhow.. I'm sad the book is falling apart because it's definately worth the time to read it! Oh what a read it was! Thanks a million for sharing it with me Hoot! I loved it!
