From the back cover:
A father and his young son walk alone through burned America, heading slowly for the coast. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. They have nothing but a pistol to defend themselves against the men who stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food - and each other.
January 2013: This was a quick read for sure and very depressing. What a miserable life these characters lead. You can just feel the hopelessness dripping out of the book. I didn't really know what to expect when I started reading it. I don't know what to think of it, except for the fact that it's very dark. I've also recorded the movie a while ago and I'm looking forward to watching it... just to see how they turned this book into a movie, what's left out and what's added. And I think that I might like the film better than the book, which is quite rare.
