From back of book:
Stanley Yelnats is under a curse. A curse that began with his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather and has since followed generations of Yelnats. Now Stanley has been unjustly sent to a boys' detention center, Camp Green Lake, where the boys build character by spending all day, every day, digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. There is no lake at Camp Green Lake. But there are an awful lot of holes.
It doesn't take long for Stanley to realize there's more than character improvement going on at Camp Green Lake. The boys are digging holes because the warden is looking for something. But what could be buried under a dried-up lake? Stanley tries to dig up the truth in this inventive and darkly humorous tale of crime and punishment - and redemption.

Picked up at the Thursday mini meeting!
Taking back to the September children's meeting. I can see why this book won an award! You can see where it's going but it's always done so well and in such an engaging manner that you get drawn in and happy things go the way you thought they might.

Safely in my hands
Realize that this has been made into a movie that I have seen. Lost interest in reading it now. Will return to group.
I am taking this book to our monthly bookcrossers meet up at Cravings - the second Saturday of every month- to pass on to the next reader.
Picked up at get together
A fun little story. I've seen the movie before - it's been a while, but it seems like the movie and book are very similar. It was a fast read.
Thanks for the enjoyable read.

Taken to get together
finally got around to reading this one (never have seen the movie!) - great story line, interesting characters. Loved how the author blended stories from 3 different timelines all together.
Back in my hands for a future wild release!
