Writer Juliet Ashto receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Through an exchange of letters, telegrams and more, emerges a remarkable tale of the island of Guernsey during the German Occupation in WWII.
I love this book very much. While on the Book Talk forum some think it's too fluffy and barely above a romance novel, I find the format of letter exchanges interesting and the story heartwarming. Although the overall tone of the book lightens the somber subject of WWII, and it is a fast pageturner, it would be remiss to call this book a simple beach read.

Thank you so much Azuki!
I too really loved this book, while I agree with some critics that it is essentially a romance the underlying subject matter makes it much more than this.
