The Crocodile City is a graphic novel without words. It's made by a swedish artist and the book is in swedish (the front and back covers), but the story it self is completely wordless, so anyone can "read" it.

From the back cover:

English: A flooded city where crocodiles roam. The crocodile hunter sells his catch to the butcher. His pay is gasoline and liquor. They play a game of croco chess. At home the crocodile soup simmers away. The crocodile hunter, asleep on his couch, has a dream. At dawn he gets a strange catch in his net. "The Crocodile City" is a mythological tale in a world without words

Most stories have words to give, the pictures on the other hand are up to the readers to create. But in this case it's the other way around. And I really liked this wordless story and the inverted use of imagination. The pictures are provoking, interesting and beautiful.

Wow, what a wonderful surprise the mailman brought yesterday!!

Thank you very much, VictoriaWagtail for this great book (and the Christmas card with the snowman chocolate!! It looks very interesting, you were absolutely right in thinking I might like this one. I don't think I can wait very long before 'reading' it. As a matter of fact, I have already started, but didn't want to keep you waiting for me calling in the book. ;-)

Like I already said in my previous JE, I probably can't wait 'reading' this book.

And I couldn't. I have read it and I loved it very much. The drawing is beautiful, it very clearly tells a story for which no words are needed. I think if words would be added, it would roin the story.
I liked the blurp on the back cover, because now I had an idea (at the start) what the book was about. And then after the first few pages the story unfolded itself. I loved it!!

The book will stay here for a while, so hubby (and maybe Junior) can read it too. And after I've read it again to find other details, to take a closer look at the drawings, it will travel on to new friends :-)

Thank you!!
