The lead character's denial of her identity throughout this book is so over the top it's infuriating, as well as being completely unrealistic. None of the subtlety of "Looking for Alibrandi", which it can't help but be compared to (sorry, but that's just the way the world is sometimes). Other than that though, it's a good read, especially for its young adult target demographic. It illustrates again (by comparison with "LfA") that there are many common experiences for every ethnic group establishing itself in Australia.
