Journal Entry 1 by jasminelouise from Portland, Oregon USA on Tuesday, November 18, 2003
A great read about travel pre 9/11. Born in England of Indian parents, raised in America and currently living in Japan, Pico Ayer describes his life as a man whose home is where he is. What a concept. Like the switch from a phone you locate to a phone you carry. I enjoyed this one immensely. From his travels through LAX, to Hong Kong to Atlanta's Olympic Village. His descriptions are sometimes a little wordy but his eye for detail is phenomenal. Ayer explores the impact of globalization on what it means to be 'home'.
