I thought this looked really funny, which is what the cover implied, however I didn't find it funny, except in a few places. I am going to add it to the book I am sending for the UK Christmas exchange, in the hopes that the recipicant will find it more funny than I did.

It is a book discussing the joys of round robin letters.

Thank you secret santa! I'll give this a go. I do have some relatives who send out these letters every year and they tend to be unintentionally funny. (This year's for example, mentioned how they visited Edinburgh in the summer when I got married, but implied that the highlight of that trip was visiting the Royal Yacht Britannia as tourists, rather than say... attending their dear niece's wedding!)

First chapter: bloody hilarious! (Especially as a parent.) Rest of the book varied between pretty funny and uncomfortably unpleasant. Hoggart is unfair to some of the writers in this, who are after all only intending to clumsily update their friends on the past year. And I suspect some of the more misery-ridden ones may be related to depression or anxiety issues. But there are some who sound absolutely awful - whatever were they thinking???

Most jaw-dropping moment was the couple who described disowning their daughter over unpaid financial debts before immediately moving on to say that they were planning to cheer themselves up with a caravan trip to the Dordogne. OMG.
