Uncle Boris in the Yukon and Other Shaggy Dog Stories

I haven't read this yet but I've heard this guy on NPR so I thought I'd give it a shot. Plus I love this from the inside cover: "Unlike every other dog book ever written, this one does not make the reader feel more stupid than the author."
I will be on the look-out for more books by this author. As a dog-lover I really enjoyed Pinkwater's stories. The only downside to this book is that the first nine chapters seem a bit disjointed. I enjoyed these chapters but they really keep from the meat of the book that (for me) starts at chapter ten.
This book made me chuckle several times but I will admit a couple of tears as well. (Watch out for chapter 16!)

On the way to Washington!
Alrescate sent me the book by mail, along with a nice card.
We really enjoyed this little book. We read it to each other on a car trip. It was perfect for that - light and humorous and a lot of fun. We will pass it on to another Pinkwater fan. (Actually, it has gone and come back at least once already.)
This book is light, humerous, and such fun that we all read it several times. I even thought the grandkids would read it. This last time, I looked at its traveling patch, and realized I had kept it far too long. I am, therefore, sending it to a very nice lady in Virginia, who, I am sure, will love it.
This book was mailed to me by the very kind Mehitabel1 on LiveJournal.Com who hardly knows me at all, but knows I love animal books in the style of James Herriot. She mailed it at her own expense for $3.00 all the way from Federal Way, Washington State, in the U.S.
I have never had a bookcrossing.com book before, but now I''m hooked!
