I have a strange feeling that this book was the first adult book I read as a child. Certainly it was among the first.
I now have a rabbit named Hazel :-)
And I have to admit, most of my knowledge of rabbits and their habits come from this book, so I'm not sure how accurate they are!
Fiver the rabbit senses danger at their warren. He persuades his brother Hazel and some other rabbits to leave and make their way across country to make a new home somewhere else. This is the story of their travels and their adventures in setting up a new warren on Watership Down.
This book has stayed in my mind for years - now I'm going to set it free for someone else to read and enjoy.

I'm stopping here for lunch today, so I'm aiming to leave this book with the newspapers in the cafe, but if I chicken out it will be in the ladies' toilet area :-)
