My name is Meghan Chase. In less than twenty-four hours I'll be sixteen. Countless stories, songs and poems have been written about this wonderful age, when a girl finds true love and the stars shine for her and the handsome prince carries her off into the sunset. I don't think it will be that way for me. Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school...or at home. When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical fairy king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face...and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

It's here! Thanks a lot for sending 3vie. ^_^
Sounds interesting. I've seen a few of those faery YA books around at
the bookshops lately and I've always resisted.. so I'm glad to finally get my hands on one. :p

This was quite an enjoyable read, even if Meghan sometimes annoyed me. Why does it always have to be a love triangle? Robbie is too much of a prankster to seem like a romantic prospect to me.. And then there is Ash, the dark, brooding and handsome fairy prince. I do like the fairy world, the nevernever, with the seelie and unseelie courts, and all its different creatures. Grimalkin is definitely my favorite.
This can be read as a stand alone I guess, but I am curious to see how it continues and will have to keep an eye out for the rest of the series.

When I first started reading this I thought it was a bit derivative, but I really liked the concept of the iron fey coming about as a result of people's growing reliance on science and technology - this made me interested enough that I'm going to seek out the rest of the series to see what happens next.

Megan Chase is about to turn 16, bullied at school, ignored by her step father - only her best friend Robbie looks out for her. But then her little brother is taken and replaced by something savage, and she's drawn into the strange and dangerous world of the fey, where a beautiful and dangerous prince hunts her, and she becomes a pawn in a political game, and even Robbie is not what he seems. Definitely good enough to want to read more of this series!
