A GREAT book! Horrendous poverty, but some really hilarious scenes as well. (My favorite is the story of his First Holy Communion.) You can hear the brogue in his voice.

I tried to read this once before, but gave up on it..I didn't really like the style of writing that Frank Mccourt was using. This time, I was able to get through it,and I liked it more than I thought I would. It just kind of seemed repetitive, the dad would get drunk, the mom would have another baby, the baby would die, Frank would get sick...
