This story is well written and flows nicely, although it is not my preferred genre it captured my interest and kept me guessing 'til the end. Recommended reading.

Well, it's my preferred genre for those days when the hard stuff is too hard! Getting stuck into this one immediately, thanks, marmee.

Pretty predictable - but then I've read a lot of police procedurals and mystery. (It's never the most obvious suspects!) I enjoyed the relationship between the two cops best, but I'm afraid I disagree with you about the writing, marmee. Sloan overuses adjectives for the word 'said' (sometimes ten different ways on the one page, a sure thing with 'amateur' writers - found myself thinking the next time she uses 'whispers softly' I'm going to scream!) and makes a lot of things too explicit, telling the reader what emotional charge they should get out of her writing rather than just letting them "get" it. If the style was as good as the characterisation, I would have enjoyed it more. Also I would have liked more description of the island, more a sense of place than just small town stuff.
The best thing about this book was meeting you, marmee!
I'll release this at my OBCZ, JingJo's.
