Cardcaptor Sakura Vol. 1
3 journalers for this copy...
I enjoyed the intertwined/crossover CLAMP series xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, and as those series include appearances by characters who, if not identical to, are very similar to characters appearing in other CLAMP works, including this series, I dipped into this series too. I found the anime series charming, and the manga even more so. Got this fair-condition Vol. 1 softcover at the Used Book Superstore.
This is a sweet and sparkly series, but does have a bit more depth than "cute little girl in frilly outfit". The story opens with young Sakura wielding her magic powers to capture a strange card, and then goes into the introductions of the characters and a flashback showing how she wound up having to hunt down the "Clow cards" one by one. It's all very charming, from Sakura's bickering relationship with her brother to her crush on her brother's best friend Yukito, to her friend Tomoyo's crush on *her* (which includes Tomoyo's creation of different outfits for every mission Sakura goes on!).
As things start out, only Tomoyo is in on Sakura's secret - well, she and Kero, a powerful lion-like creature in its full form but who spends most of his time as a small toy-like being. [It turns out that they aren't the only ones who know, nor the only ones who have magical connections, but that only gets revealed bit by bit as the series progresses.]
Sweet, adorable stories, with some excitement here and there - nice!
[See the TV Tropes page for info and trivia about the series!]

SO I don't know if anyone still reads these but ill record my thoughts anyway. I picked up this book at a wonderbook in gaithersburg maryland off a whim a couple months ago and just decided to crack it open. If anyone still reads these you will here my thought on the actual content of the book very shortly.
We do read these journal entries. Thanks for posting! :)
