The book is set up as twelve short stories, connected by their similarities to the twelve Labors of Hercules. A few characters from other books make an appearance, including Poirot's one and only love interest. This was a good read.

A purloined Pekingese, a slain spouse, a missing temptress... began a twisting trail of murder, blackmail and larceny that led the formidible Hercule Poirot from the fog-bound streets of London to the icy reaches of the Swiss Alps, to the brink of total bafflement. Never had the great detective's powers of deduction been so confounded as in this, his greatest challenge.
