The first parts of the book, well over half of it, is quite interesting. But after that, I found it less so. The story turns into more of a recounting of events than about the character development of the people in the book, and there was a bit too much about the fighting career of Freedom to my liking. It seems like the last two parts of the book mostly serve to lead up to the sequel to this book. It says on the back cover that there is a curse in the family that would play a big role, but it is hardly mentioned or apparent - maybe I'm just missing it.

I will give the sequel a try someday, but it is not high on my list. This book will stay with part two until they are both ready to continue on their journey.

Nice story, pleasant to read. I'm having doubts about reading part 2, which I have waiting in the cupboard. Will decide later.
