Commissario Guido Brunetti of the Venice Questura is shocked to hear that Brett Lynch, a friend since a murder case at La Fenice, has suffered a savage beating.
The attack, in the beautiful palazzo home of Flavia Petrelli, reigning diva of La Scala, had come with a message: 'Don't keep that appointment with Dottor Semenzato.'
Then, with the storm clouds gathering fast over the city, a man's body is found...

I received this book and one other by the same author on Saturday. I had the better part of this weekend to myself and as the weather was nice sat outside and read. I finished this book up last night.
I have a street map of Venice and as the author uses authentic places and street names I thoroughly enjoy looking up his (Brunetti's) destinations on the map as I read.
Even more thrilling is the fact that my boyfriend and I have decided Venice (along with Florence) will be our next destination this coming winter. So these two books are bringing even more anticipation and enjoyment.
Thanks Annelis!

Perfect timing! A book set in Venice; and (who could resist) "smuggling, sexual betrayal, high-class fakery, and, of course, Mafia money..."
In @ 10 days we leave for a 3-week trip to Italy. Might read this one on the plane, then release it in Lucca or Florence...
Thanks, cobaltcat!

Hi JTD...we picked the book on Sunday the 26th, right in front of the Teatro Il Giglio!. My friend Daniele and I were very excited...I knew of books that were left for people to read them, but this was our first time, and it was really exciting. Thanks!!!!
