I'd read the first book in the series "The Eyre Affair" several years ago and it took me a little while to get into this novel. Before long enough came back and I enjoyed the plot of this book. I am sure I miss many of the literary puns and references, but I do enjoy the ones I find. The storyline is pretty imaginative and different and a pleasant read.
