I am embaressed. JudySlump612 handed this to me at a very busy time, and it immediately got buried, before journaling, under piles and piles of paper. I am happy, very happy to get a book from one of my favorite authors, and will start it tonight. Thank you!
An unusual book from Bujold. If I were to be pendantic and try to sound erudite, I would place this is her anodyne to the Vorkosigan saga.
The story is dark; a conquered country, put to the sword generations ago, with the Gods denied, and prevented from offering succor. But in reality, how else could conquerors react when they were confronted with the reality of a society where gods, or other powers, walked, talked, and fought beside ordinary men? And what happens to that otherworldly presence that used to walk besides men? How do you pacify that uneasy and now powerless power? Into this mess is thrust two unlikely heroes, and a mess of entertaining 'saints'. Well worth reading, I enjoyed it, but it is more serious and thought provoking than most of her other work. Thanks for the book,
