This was an adorable re telling of pride and prejudice in a modern New England boarding school. It did a great job of updating the classic to a modern story with a unique take. It was great fun to read on my way back to school.
From Amazon:
After winter break, the girls at the very prestigious, very wealthy, girls-only Longbourn Academy are suddenly obsessed with the prom, which they share with the nearby, equally elitist, all-boys Pemberly School. Lizzie Bennett, who attends Longbourn on scholarship, isn't exactly interested in designer dresses and expensive shoes, but her best friend, Jane, might be—especially now that Charles Bingley is back from a semester in London. Lizzie is happy about her friend's burgeoning romance, but less than impressed by Will Darcy, Charles's friend, who's as snobby and pretentious as his friend is nice. He doesn't seem to like Lizzie either, but she assumes it's because her family doesn't have money. It doesn't help that Charles doesn't seem to be asking Jane to be his prom date, or that Lizzie meets George Wickham, who tells her that Will Darcy sabotaged his scholarship at Pemberly. Clearly, Will Darcy is a pompous jerk who looks down on the middle class—so imagine Lizzie's surprise when he asks her to the prom!
Will Lizzie's prejudice and Will's pride keep them apart? Or are they a prom couple in the making? From Elizabeth Eulberg comes a very funny, completely stylish prom season delight of Jane Austen proportions.

I like these adaptations from my favourite movie - ;)
I enjoyed this modern-era P & P; inventive and quick to read.
Taking the book to the Calgary BC Meetup at the Joshua Tree Cafe today.
Picked this up at today's meeting. How did I come home with so many books? Adding to my TBR mountain.
This was a fun, well written modern retelling that stayed pretty close to the source material. It was simplified but still stayed true. I really enjoyed it.
Taking this to Calgary's July meet up.

I picked this up at the July meeting at Cravings. Love the short ones!
Fun read and QUICK! Fun modern take on P & P.
I am bringing this to tomorrows meetup at Cravings to be passed on to the next reader.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing January meet-up. I have yet to read Price and Prejudice, but this will mark the third book I've read using the premise of the original.
I was wrong. This is the *fourth* book I've read that adapts the plot of Pride and Prejudice (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Longbourn, and Bridget Jones' Diary being the other three). It does keep to the original plot quite well and all of the characters are there, but I will freely admit that I didn't enjoy this book that much. It feels like a high school AU fanfic (not that there's anything wrong with those). Oh, and it also bugs me how Will does everything; Lizzie has no initiative. Like, why isn't Lizzie capable of rescuing Lydia from Wick on her own? This is a modern take on Pride and Prejudice; it wouldn't be weird if the author changed a few other things. Man, I really need to read the original Pride and Prejudice at some point...
Passing this book on to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing February meet-up.
received from a friend. I am looking forward to reading this and seeing what the differences are between this and the original Jane Austen.
This one came home from Edmonton this summer, and is in the pile for the next bookbox as we have new people who might enjoy it.

Collected from book box 2. Off my usual murder myseries so this should foot the bill.
This was just what I needed! A predictable, light reading book and I loved it. My mood is such that these are what is needed! Thanks megami-no-ushi
