Coraline
3 journalers for this copy...
In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close.
The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks to the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.
Only it's different.
At first, things seem marvelous in the other flat. The food is better. The toy box is filled with wind-up angels that flutter around the bedroom, books whose pictures writhe and crawl and shimmer, little dinosaur skulls that chatter their teeth. But there's another mother, and another father, and they want Coraline to stay with them and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.
Other children are trapped there as well, lost souls behind the mirrors. Coraline is their only hope of rescue. She will have to fight with all her wits and all the tools she can find if she is to save the lost children, her ordinary life, and herself.

Edit 18.6.2012: I liked this dark and creepy story.
Coraline is clever, quirky, curious and adventurous, brave and determined, independent, stubborn to no end, a bit reckless and not scared of danger. She will NEVER leave any mysterious doors locked and uninvestigated.

Sent to NowINka. Happy Journey!
Wow, the book arrived super fast!!! Thank you so much Tyrnimarja. I will journal it again after reading.
When they were like three and six years old, my two little nephews used to watch a stop motion movie based on Gaiman's novel and they loved it! On my part though, I used to think that it was creepy and not suitable for children their age. All I could think of was those black button-like eyes that scared the hell out of me (and yes, I'm a grown-up!). But three years later, boys still enjoy the story and after reading this book I may actually know why. I guess it's the truth when they say that the child's imagination begins where the adult's ends. Right now I may even give that movie another go. After all... "when you're scared but you still do it anyway, that's brave" :)
I offered this book as a RABCK the same way it was offered to me (thanks again, Tyrnimarja!) and now it's on the way to... Greece. Enjoy!

Received it this morning! Thank you dear NowINka for sending it to me and also for the card and the bookmark! My daughters are looking forward to reading it too:-)
Read a long long time ago and then remained forgotten in my bookcase. I gave it to a relative to read but there was never a journal entry. I loved it, so beautifully written, such a thrilling story...
