Taking this out of The Fairy Godmother Fiction Bookbox. I've been interested in reading Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies so when I saw this book in the box, I thought I would give this one a try. Thanks for sharing!

I took this book on my island hopping trip in Hawaii. I was able to pass my time, on a long flight, with an interesting cast of characters. I found the dynamics of Gogol's family, his parents struggles to adapt to a life far from Calcutta and raising children that would become "Americanized" interesting. Gogol finds himself floating between two cultures, rebelling against the world his parents hold dear, his special given name, and trying to feel comfortable in a world he wants to be a part of. This is the second book that I have read by this author. I enjoy her writing style.
