Excellent way of learning about that area of the world and the reasons for its "explosive" climate by just reading this thriller - the hero, Omar Yussef is an extremely likeable school teacher in Bethlehem, who gets involved into a murder investigation. For a non-muslim like me also interesting insights into muslim customs and way of thinking; how authentic I cannot judge, but appears reasonably authentic. This is the first in the series, the second is A Grave in Gaza.
