"Anne Tyler's gentlest and most charming novel....an honest and lovely book." - Chicago Tribune

This book is going to keister in Alaska as a surprise. I was already sending her a slim volume, so it costs nothing extra to include another book in the same envelope.

Received this 'bonus' book as a suprise from hootnoodle in the mail. This will be my second Anne Tyler book. I read the Accidental Tourist many many years ago. Thank you so much hootnoodle!

An extra goodie from hootnoodle that I quite enjoyed.
from the cover: Everyone knows a couple like the Morans. Maggie, with her scatterbrained ways and her just slightly irritating - but goodhearted - attempts to make everything right for everyone...And Ira, infinitely patient, who's addicted to solitaire and who whistles out popular tunes, the only barometer of his moods. They've learned all ther is to know about eachother - two ordinary lives in a comfortably routine marriage. But on the road to a friend's funeral, they make some unexpected detours - and discover how extraordinary their ordinary lived really are....

Have finished this book - to be honest I wasn't that impressed - it was okay but didn't really grab me. Readable though.
