This book is about a young British writer who travelled to Germany during the first world war to become a war correspondent for the London Daily Chronicle. He ended up being interned for approximately a year before he escaped and made his way back home. The book mainly covers how he ended up in prison, how he thought he would go mad not knowing what his captors intensions were and how he escaped with the help of another inmate. Geoffrey Pyke went on to make many contributions to society before committing suicide in 1948. Very interesting real life stuff!
