Wintergirls was written by Laurie Halse Anderson, who (along with all the other authors involved in the project) has waived her royalties for this special World Book Night edition.

World Book Night is a special promotion to help spread the love of reading real books, and there are events taking place this year in several countries - this is the first year that the US is part of this celebration of reading.

On April 23, 2012 (or shortly afterwards), 25,000 volunteer book givers throughout the country will each give away 20 copies of one of 30 books - and you've found one!
