One of twenty copies of this special edition that I'm to release for World Book Night on Monday, April 23.

Ender's Game was my first encounter with the writing of Orson Scott Card, and remains one of my favorites. Card is a very talented storyteller, who creates utterly believable characters, even when the situations surrounding them are fantastic. While this book takes the form of a science fiction story, I honestly believe that the underlying story should appeal to anyone, even if they aren't normally a fan of the genre.

My daughter thought she could give away a few of my World Book Night books to her friends, so I sent this to school with her. I hope her friends enjoy the book and pass it along for others to enjoy!

I am nearly one hundred fifty pages through this book, and so far it has been incredible. The story line is brilliant and original, the characters are in depth and relatable, and the points brought up and the undertones really make you think. Personally, what really drives me crazy is when people are condescending and patronizing towards me. I despise when people assume that just because I am a young girl I am a bubble-headed, stupid, naive teenager, incapable of having a valid opinion, and unable to maturely think. Yes, there are definitely many things that I will have to have further age and experience to understand, but that doesn't mean that I don't understand what is going on in the world around me and that certainly doesn't mean that I can't make a difference. This is why I really love the way that orson Scott card writes ender. He is a six year old boy who is beyond capable of mature thinking, understaning why people do what hey do, and seeing through the thinly veiled lies that the authority around him tell. So often people assume that children are automatically perfectly innocent and incapable of being malicious, and the sad truth is that to they can be that and more, ( especially in our technologically advanced society, in which children have access to endless information). I love how card is not afraid to write what he thinks, no matter how hard it may be to accept the way some things truly are. I applaud him for not just writing another dull, thoughtless child who only cares about candy and toys.

I have loved every moment of this book so far and can not wait to finish it so I can pass it on and continue the cycle. I hope that the future readers of this copy of enders game adore It as much as I do.
