Synopsis:
This great novel tells the moving story of the Manette family, caught up in the horrors of French Revolution: Alexandre Manette, clinging to sanity after 18 years wrongfully imprisoned in the Bastille; his loving daughter Lucie; her husband Charles Darnay, last scion of a noble French house, in peril of his life from the revengeful Paris mob. It is a story of injustice and betrayal, but also of love, courage and supreme sacrifice.

Found it very difficult to get into, the story seemed to be moving in slow motion at times. Certain scenes seemed to be repeated but with different characters. I also had trouble remembering who the characters were, I recognised their names but couldn't always remember who they were or how they had come into the story. Glad it's finished.
