Death of Kings

The sixth book in the Warrior Chronicle series.
Alfred dies and Uhtred fights on. I tend to skim through the battle scenes as they're starting to become a little samey and tedious, but otherwise an enjoyable book.
For a Convention attendee who has this on their wishlist.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Hope I will have a chance to thank you for this wishlist book in person! I shall enjoy it all right!
[From the back cover]:
Alfred, the great King, is said to be dying. Rivals for his succession are poised to tear the kingdom apart - the country Alfred has worked thirty years to build is about to disintegrate.
Uhtred, the King's warrior, Saxon born but Viking raised, wants more than anything else to go and fight to reclaim his stolen Northumbrian inheritance. But he knows that if he deserts the king's cause, Alfred's dream - and indeed the future of the English nation - will very likely vanish.
A man torn between two worlds must decide where his loyalty lies and play his part in the story of how England was made - and very nearly lost."

Apologies for keeping the book for so long on my shelf without journalling it but I wanted to read the series in chronological order (which of course was not necessary!) and it's only now that I gathered all 5 previous books.
The whole saga is a real page turner with interesting plot and some twists and turns here and there and Mr. Cornwell is a master of storytelling. Recommended!
