Yes, this is the book that made Roosavelt lose his breakfast. The descriptions of the stockyards are chilling, and the lessons taught in the book are still being learned. A difficult read, but worthwhile. If nothing else, read the last 20 pages. You will miss the story (and the gore) but will walk away with the main thrust of the book.
