This book didn't do much for me. I prefer the No 1 ladies detective series. I'm not bothered about reading the others in this series
I found this book at Loch Lomond Shores. I enjoyed the Von Igelfeld novels very much so I am looking foward to reading it.
I am sorry to say that I didn't really enjoy this book. I loved the first line but it went downhill from there. I didn't really take to the main character and found the plot a bit rambling. I will, however, probably read more by the same author in the future. I am going to pass this on to dct to see what she thinks of it.
I really enjoyed this first Isabel Dalhousie detective-style novel, so thanks to NIc88 for passing it my way. I have a theory that I am enjoying Alexander McCall Smith's writing more and more as I age. I was a little ambivalent about the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency in my 20s but in my 30s I've really taken to the Scotland Street series, and now to Isabel Dalhousie too. Perhaps I should return to give Mma Ramotswe another try in a few years time. I'm hoping someone will pick this up at my World Book Night 2013 celebration...
