I found this fair-condition softcover among the charity-sale books at a local Hannaford's, and I was glad to nab it for another release copy.
I love Anne Lamott's non-fiction, whether she's talking about her son's first year (Operating Instructions) or, as in this book, about writing. Lamott's writing - and her advice - is practical, funny, and refreshingly sharp, and I think this book can be enjoyed whether you ever do any writing of your own or not.

I'm adding this book to MaryZee's Bookish bookbox, which I plan to hand off to eponine38 on Friday. Hope someone enjoys the book!
This book came home in my Bookish bookbox yesterday. This box started out with another copy of this book in it, so this will be for the next box. Not sure if I'll take this opportunity to read this book or not; this box came home with lots of good books in it. Thanks for sharing, GoryD!
Loved this book! Memoirs are one of my favorite genres, and this is one in that Lamott shares bits of her life along with her writing life. Her writing is humorous, but not forced. She covers every aspect of writing, from the creation and development of a story, characters, plot, writer's block, all the way to publication and the next book. Definitely a book to be savored; I'll be looking for my own copy.
Thanks for sharing, GoryD! This will be going into the next round of the Bookish bookbox (hopefully to go out again in a couple of months).

Sadly, MaryZee passed suddenly in September 2012. MaryZee's daughter is now ready to rehome her mom's books and I was willing to collect and redistribute them to keep her literary legacy alive.
