I happened to get a Finnish translation of this book (Hänen varjonsa tarina) and prefer to read it.

Thank you a lot for this surprise! The Time Traveller's Wife is still haunting in the background so it's nice to try this one, too. I have moved but luckily the post had rerouted the package. Have a nice autumn you too, L!

The suitable moment to read this novel was definitely now: around Halloween when spookiness lurks around every corner and the evenings are full of mystery and darkness. I started reading almost three weeks ago and I have to say that this is slow. If you are patient, you will adjust and learn the characters. It felt comfortable to spend time with them, that is probably the most prevailing thought in my mind now. I don't have clear opinion on the intrigue; perhaps it was odd but I suppose settings in horror books are odd. What I found a bit disturbing were the reasons that led to the event that was climax. Why? The motif of Valentina was too vague. Also the participation of Robert on the act was really strange. But otherwise I kind of liked the end.

The word symmetry in the title is to do with maths so this book goes to the School Challenge.
