Rollins can always be counted on to deliver a fast paced page-turner with lots of twists and turns. This book is no exception. Set high up in the Andes, a group of anthropologists make some startling discoveries while excavating a lost Incan temple...but finding out the truth might just cost them their lives...
Journal Entry 2 by K-i-s-m-e-t at Park Theatre & Movie Cafe in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada on Wednesday, March 14, 2012
Released 12 yrs ago (3/15/2012 UTC) at Park Theatre & Movie Cafe in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
This book is coming with me to our monthly gathering at the Park Theatre Cafe. If no one takes it home, it will stay on the shelf patiently awaiting a new reader.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing April meet-up from the book box sent from Winnipeg. Never read any James Rollins, but the plot sounds interesting.
Spoilers in this review...
The book started out pretty good, it was certainly a page turner, but it started to lose me when the plot became too fantastical. A mysterious substance that can change shape through thought? Deformed creatures? Wounds that can be healed instantly? A lost Incan tribe? The book wasn't billed as a fantasy or as sci-fi, so maybe that's why it lost me. But the end? Aliens sent this stuff to Earth? Huh?
So leave reality behind while reading this book. It's more enjoyable that way.

Releasing this book at the Calgary BookCrossing September meet-up. If it didn't go home with someone, it's on the bookshelf.
Brought this home from the September Bookcrossing meeting at Joshua Tree Cafe. Thought my husband might really enjoy it.
My husband and I both read this. Very different concept but kept you reading.
I hope that I make it to the April meeting at the Joshua Tree Café as I have just a few books to bring back. If not this month, next month will be a BIG haul.
I haven't read a book by Rollins yet so I'll give it a try.
I have tried this book a couple of times and I just didn't enjoy the story. :(
Took the book to the Calgary BC Meetup today.
Picked up at Calgary January bookcrossing meetup.
Definitely a page turner.
The plot gets a little outlandish part way through, but if you can accept the strange plot points (about on par with Indiana-Jones-type stuff) it's an enjoyable action adventure.

Brought this home from the February BookCrossing meeting for my husband to read.
Brought this book home for my husband to read. And in his words a pretty good story.
Taking this to the June BookCrossing Meeting to pass on to a reader
Took this book back to release it into the wild.
Picked this up at the September Calgary meet up. There was no one else that wanted to read it. I am saving this for release to my Little Free Library.
